SPIRITUAL: SELF-ACCEPTANCE OF YOUR HUMANNESS

Self-acceptance is seeing who you are in all your humanness. Having compassion and not beating yourself up for your flaws, perceived and otherwise, is necessary in order to get to compassion for other. The thoughts come and comes:
-I'm a failure
-I wish I was smarter or better looking
-If I had that girl then I could be happy

They are not you. You are not your thoughts. If you are not your thoughts, ehn what are you? You are the awareness from which the thoughts arise. The thoughts themselves are just a matter of conditioning.Your mind is a product of combination of genetic predisposition and environmental conditioning. The nurture is the software of family, environment, and culture. All of it is an accident of birth. So that tape that is running in your head, the one that says...you're not good enough of whatever is simply an accident of birth. Get born into a judgmental family, get low self esteem. Get born into a loving family, feel good about yourself. So, how do you deal with the tape?

You simply ignoring them. Let the burble along the background. Just let the thoughts be. Accept that they are part of our conditioning, and learn to have compassion for them. Forgive yourself of having these thoughts. It is only then that you can forgive those who hurt you and were instrumental in creating the thoughts in the first place.
