PERSONAL/ LOVE LETTER/LOVE LETTER: YOU ARE

I sit here, lost in the memory of you. What is today? I don't know. What is it I'm supposed to be doing now? I can't remember. It couldn't have been very important. Thoughts of last night still fill my mind and heart. Nothing else seems worth my time and effort. Where am I? Well, not here in this confined space, not really. I'm still lost in everything I felt when we were together. That was when you and I became "us" and I could no longer tell where you left off and I began. I love you, and my love is lasting and true. I'm not sure when it began but I know it will never end. Surely, life can offer no higher fulfillment than what we experienced last night.

There can be no other woman in my life now but you. I've been involved in other relationships in the past, but they certainly can't compare to what I have found with you or to what I'm feeling now. Perhaps the others were just "dry runs," practice for the real thing, for a reality that I couldn't even imagine until I had experienced it for myself. Last night, I couldn't help but surrender to the feelings that had captured my soul and yet promised me freedom and joy. Today, the words of an old John Denver song come to mind, and it is only now that I understand what the "sweet surrender" he sang about really means.

I hope you know how much our relationship has come to mean to me. Before I met you, there was an emptiness in my heart that at times seemed to consume me, that threatened to break me--but now my life is full of meaning and purpose. I can see my future more clearly now--you are the light in the dark that guides my steps to where I want to be. When the entire world was once overcast by subtle shades of gray, when I seemed caught in a perpetual winter, you brought vibrant color to my life, and in my heart I felt the renewal, the warmth and sunlight of spring again.

I adore your kind smile and your gentle eyes. You have so much good in you--you treat me so well. I love your quiet strength, and your desire to do right. You have such a love for others, and your example makes me want to be the best that I can be. You can always make me laugh, even when I don't always want to. In quiet moments, I wonder what I ever did to be blessed to have you in my life. You remind me of what is truly important in this life, and I'll always be grateful to Fate for bringing us together. Is the world still spinning? Since last night when you and I ceased to be individuals but became "us," I have felt that I was residing on a world where time did not exist. Is it night or day? I don't know anymore. I no longer need food; sleep is impossible. I have no interest in world events or market prices. All that matters is you. If the sun rises, it rises because of you. If the moon courses across the sky and bathes the world in yellow light, it does so because you exist.

Is this the love they write about in romance novels? What else could it be? What else could compare to this feeling? Surely life would have no meaning for me without you. And other girls? A vague memory. They were only schoolboy romances, puppy love, meaningless flirtations. I can honestly say that nothing I thought I felt could ever compare with the profound love I feel for you now. I am finally alive! What does the poet say?

Growing up I dreamed about the sort of person I could love someday. I imagined I could meet someone from a fairy tale, someone who was wonderful and charming, who was like no other in this world. As I grew up and started to deal with different situations, I didn't think that that love really existed because things never would work out the way I wished that they could.

One day I met this special someone who walked into my life, someone who made me feel like I could feel love, that maybe that word LOVE really did exist. Not only had the barriers that surrounded my heart plummeted but I could feel the warmth of Love. I could dream again, I could imagine that I was now a part of that fairy tale that I always wanted to be. My life had changed in way that I could never think of possible.

I am one of the luckiest person, because at last my dream has come true. I love that special someone who is wonderful and charming, someone who makes my heart skip a beat. Someone whom if I don't speak to within every hour of the day I become trapped in thought. Someone who when every time that voice is spoken I can't control the smile that not only enlightens my face but my day! I love someone who is not like any other person in this world....it's you
