STORY: AS I STOOD ALONE

As I stood alone, in the darkness consuming me, watching her
from a distance, she was the only light in the room. I waited while
she slowly passed me by, his glittering eyes, brighter than any star
in the heavens above my head...but I knew that I could never compete,
I could never win her heart. Yet, I knew my heart belonged to one,
and when I first laid my eyes on her I knew it was her as I told her
the thoughts bottled up inside me for centuries buried in the sands
of my emotions. My eyes lowered, still, her sparkling eyes, as it
always was, the only light of the room, the only light of my heart.
My emotions being poured onto her like an hourglass of time.
She caresses my tear stained cheek, softly to wipe them away.
She holds me close, carefully, delicately, as if I was meant to be
held...forever in her arms...safe, loved.
