POETRY: IT IS TO BE US

Do you see the way
I sometimes look at you?
Do you see the way
I always think of you?

Every time we meet
my heart jumps and skips a beat.
Every time our skin may touch
my heart flows over, as it's too much.

To touch your hand, to touch your hair,
to give you my heart and soul laid bare...
the power of my love may catch my breath,
may fight off sadness, may fight off death.

I would be so proud to be together,
for if you loved me, I would live forever.
Do you see me as I pass you by,
releasing my love so your heart may fly?

Just one little sentence would make my dreams come true,
take away the sadness, the longing for you.
And what are these words, I hear you ask,
that would accomplish this happy and simple task?
"Yes, I love you, too."

To belong is not to be me and you,
    it is to be Us,
to be one with each other,
    to be comfortable,
to know We, as one, are

Safe as well as secure together.

To belong is not to fear losing tomorrow,
it is to believe in it,
    to live
    and love for it.

To belong is not fearing not to belong,
    it is to know,
    with someone,
    we all do belong.

To belong is not owning one another,
    it is enjoying,
    loving, accepting
    sharing one another.

To belong is you to me,
    and me to you.
    to belong is us,
    as we together are one,

We do belong!

Every breath I take,
seems like forever.
I wish you were here,
always and forever.

Every wink of an eye,
is spent looking at you.
You're so beautiful.
I hope you know this, too.

Every time you touch me,
my heart rises a little higher.
I can't believe this is happening.
You're my one and only desire.

So, I lie on my bed,
thinking of you.
Wishing you could be here,
Because I love you.

The first sight of her did not impress me much;
the second made me a little apprehensive;
the third made me stop and think.
There was something in her.
The forth made me feel like talking;
the fifth found her to be in high spirits.
The sixth made me jealous,
her beutiful face, her big anquisitive eyes...
and her gait made me restless.
The seventh sight, I made an advance toward her.
She recipocrated,
and soon the love chapter closed for ever

To my love,
With all my heart,
I cry
Each day we're apart.
If I could express
My love to you,
I would, but I can't,
And that's a fact.
Even though I lie
And say it's not true,
There's not a day when I can't help
But love you.
Your shining hair
And perfect smile,
It makes me feel
As though I could walk a hundred miles.
Your beautiful eyes
And perfect bod'
Are everything
I could want.
Your personality,
Your style and your grace,
They're like a heart
Trimmed with lace.
If I could give the world to you,
I would in a heartbeat,
For my love is so true.
To my love,
With all my heart.

I asked 12 men over 60 what they miss most about their 40s and not one of them said their career, their body, or their social life — every single one described a moment so specific and so small that I had to pull over to write them down by Tommy Baker

You know what I miss? The sound of the garage door when she’d get home from her pottery class on Thursday nights.” That’s what Frank told m...
